WEMA Bank, a Nigerian financial institution has launched the second cohort for the FGN-ALAT skillnovation programme.
The initiative led by the financial institution in partnership with the Nigerian Government revealed its aim to nurture and develop 2 million youths and 1million MSMEs with relevant digital skills.
The first cohort which kickstarted in 2023, saw over 3 million youths and entrepreneurs in participation who have established their businesses and careers as a result of the initiative.
FGN-ALAT first skillnovation cohort, a virtual training, gave participants across Nigeria a chance to learn at their own pace.
Wema bank revealed that the second cohort would commence in the second quarter of the year, and the program plans to host physical classes with curriculums that cover digital skills.
The bank noted that it would perform this phase by implementing digital hubs in various locations across the country.
WEMA bank’s executive director Retail & digital business, Tunde Mabawonku, described the initiative as a transformative opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, Job seekers and professionals across Nigeria.
He added that the program will be arranged in phases, as the second phase will be starting in two states, Borno and Anambra states respectively.
