Afen – a Nigerian based blockchain company saddled with the goal of using blockchain technologies in addressing all aspects of the African economy, create opportunities, and drive crypto adoption in the African continent has announced its partnership with Plateau Smart Tourism (PLA2SMART) in its bid towards digitising tourism in the state and country at large.
The announcement which was made via its Twitter handle comes after Afen’s meeting with the Director General, Plateau state Information and Communication Development Agency (PICTDA), David Daser who stated that Afen and the state were looking at exploring the metaverse.The approval for the digitisation was given on the 31st of January, 2022 and through the partnership, it would see that Afen, will explore the metaverse through a smart tourism initiative, which is also in partnership with the State government.
The theme, “Reimage Plateau” will also see that Afen uses smart tourism to explore the metaverse worldwide as part of its mission to present a new narrative for African society using NFT (non-fungible tokens).
Plateau state, which is the reputable home of peace and tourism showcases an array of rocks, mountains, game reserve (which is the wildlife park), waterfalls, a zoological garden, an ancient temple and a volcano. All these has made it fit into the checked boxes of one of the most tourist-friendly places in the African continent.
Furthermore, with this gained partnership with Afen, the state would receive economic value, marketing and visibility for the tourism destinations and also foriegn direct investment as the Plateau State Tourism Corporation is seeking ways in which it can improve, sustain, and maintain tourism in the state following the government’s approval to create a new dimension for tourism.
