Few months after its debut, the twitter community would have to bid farewell to the short-lived feature of its fleet.
The small circles that could include text, videos, GIFs, stickers or photos which debuted in November would be in nonexistence after August 3rd, 2021.
“We’re evolving what Twitter is, and trying bigger, bolder things to serve the public conversation. A number of these updates, like Fleets, are speculative and won’t work out. We’ll be rigorous, evaluate what works, and know when to move on and focus elsewhere. If we’re not evolving our approach and winding down features every once in a while – we’re not taking big enough chances. We’ll continue to build ways to participate in conversations, listening to feedback and changing direction when there may be a better way to serving people using Twitter”.
The announcement which was made public on Wednesday, the 14th of July 2021 revealed that it was closing down the 8 month feature as a result of low interactivity to work on something bigger and better learnt from the shared experience faced with the use of fleets.
Going on, as a part of its evolving, Twitter plans to tests its updates to the Twitter composer and camera that will host fleet features like text formatting, full screen camera for photo taking and GIF stickers.
Would all these be beneficial or would we still have issues with the mini blog site in future days to come?
