Leading music streaming platform, Spotify has released its new data with details to music consumption habits amongst its Gen Z users. The report places Grammy winner, Burna Boy; afrobeat new rave, Asake and DMW boss, Davido as its top three most streamed artists by Spotify’s Gen Z consumers.

Since its entrance into the Nigerian music scene in February 2021, Spotify has gained popularity amongst a growing number of Nigeria’s large young population. These persons, who are steering a culture shift have shown that the Nigerian Gen Z consumers are actively shaping music consumption behavior in the Nigerian music industry.
Also, the average number of artists streamed per user has grown by 60%, and Nigerian music fans have created 1.3 million user-generated playlists.
The latest data released by Spotify has shown the most streamed and successful songs on the platform owe their successes to Gen Z consumers. Burna Boy leads this category, following his 18,407,058 monthly Spotify listeners.
