Digital skills in the past months have become a part of the growing requirements for the modern day workforce. The labour market have taken a lean towards the need and usefulness of acquiring a digital skill to help fit into the 21st century marketplace and also, the ever growing and evolving atmosphere that also, accommodates working remotely.
Following the outbreak of the novel Corona virus in 2020, the internet saw a double of its usage during that period and in 2021, Nigeria had 108.75 million internet users. This however shows the need to utilise the data generated in acquiring digital skills.
nHub – known to be Nigeria’s foremost technological innovation hub in the north in collaboration with SkyHub Nigeria – a digital marketing agency is set to host a one month digital skill training.
The digital skill training which is primarily for undergraduates who have been bereaved by the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) would teach web designing, digital marketing, content marketing and graphic design.
“The training came after a conversation I had with an undergraduate who expressed dissatisfaction and frustration from the strike”, Bashir Sheidu, Chief Operations Officer of nHub told CRESTHUB.He then added that, “The training would aid them not just in certification, but the sabification, as it is very important in the digital economy”.
Sabification is a term used to describe how well a person knows and owns his/her desired skill. A joint word merged from sabi and fication, most Nigerians utilise it in tagging a scenario that is identified by excellence.
