Well, what prompted me into writing this article is because of a particular thread that I came across on nairaland.com. In that thread, a young man who just graduated from the university was asking his fellow users on nairaland to suggest a business that one can start with as little as N50,000($250). Having gone through the thread, then I decided to compile a list of business that one can start up with a little capital.
Agriculture (Poultry Farm or Goat Rearing): Who doesn’t know that Agriculture is the next best thing after crude oil? Many countries in the world, including Nigeria have changed its focal point from crude oil to agriculture. With just a little capital, one can start up a poultry farm or engage himself with other agricultural activities.
NB: before an individual should embark on this business, he or she should meet someone who is already in the business for proper advice and guidance.
ICT(Website Design/ Opening A Personal or Business website): The establishment of internet has created many opportunity for both young and old individual around the world. With just a click of a mouse, one can start gaining with little or no capital. Web companies like Blogger offers free hosting platform to everyone who wants to blog. We have seen the likes of Linda Ikeji and Akin alabi make their money online with less stress. As a Web Designer, you can design and manage other people’s website and at the same time make money from your own website via Adsense and other advertising networks. All it requires is just little tutorial on web design and a little capital.
Craft Making (Bead making, sculpturing, pottering. etc…): This might sound too odd but it’s a good way to start. I have met a lot of people who make a lot of money from craft making; one already has a lot of people working under him in his sculpture making. I also have a friend who designs frame and sell them to shopping malls and super market in bulk. Remember, they all started small and today, they are making it big.
Car Wash Service: a whole lot of people will be surprise to see this particular business on my list; well it can’t be left out because it is quite lucrative. The main requirement in Starting up this type of business is finding a suitable location that will give easy access to your client.
Recharge Card Printing: This particular business is risk free provided that you have a good printing machine. With as little as N9000 ($45) one can get the Recharge Card printing Software.
