Palmpay, a fintech company that offers seamless transactions has invested in promoting controlled gaming by major participants in the gaming industry and to also curb fraud.
According to a report by Orange Business Intelligence Technology ( ORBIT), the gaming industry recorded over $2 Billion in 2020. Over 60 million (18-40 years) people spend an average of $5.5 million on betting.
Last year, a report by a Dutch research firm revealed New Zoo, a Sub Saharan African gaming company, would record over $1 billion for the first time in 2024. This is a huge milestone that reveals the growth of the industry in Africa.
At the recent African GamingExpo, which took place in Lagos on the 12-15 of March, 2024 with the theme “Exploring the future of the African gaming market: Emerging trends, prospects and opportunities”, the fintech operative emphasized the need for responsible gaming in Africa.
According to another report, stakeholders in the industry are sourcing ways to “standardize gaming equipment and enforce reciprocity among operators to combat illegal operators, address underage gambling, and promote responsible gaming.
