Five distinctive fellows namely, Joshua Tobi Ajagbe, Joshua Martinz, Pofi Abel , Perpetual and Lucky of the Code Plateau (MAD project) – an initiative by the Plateau state government through the Plateau State Information and Communication Development Technological Agency (PICTDA) have gained a three month internship into a tech company.
The announcement which was made public through the DG of the aforementioned agency, David Daser revealed that the five individuals were picked after two interview sessions. The interview sessions which were done on hacker rack and also, a hands-on interview brought the five persons to the selection of the paid internship.
Speaking to CRESTHUB, Mr. Pofi Abel, one of the selected persons expressed gratitude to the DG of PICTDA, David Daser and the state government for the Code Plateau initiative. He further added that opportunities such as this should be made public and not hoarded for the who-is-who in society.
Reacting to the news on the five persons, the DG of PICTDA, David Daser said, “Code Plateau will solve the fundamental unemployment problem in Plateau State. Re-skilling our youth and handing them the job entry requirement through placement for internship. These successful five (5) will be developing real-life solutions for the next three months with an option of immediate recruitment”.
He further added, “We have spent a couple of months teaching them how to develop software and tooling. Today I am proud to say, we have made headway and gradually developing a footprint towards a sustainable model for human capital development. I dare to say Impossible is nonsense in the city of Jos”.
He thanked the Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong and reiterated that the organisation would train interested persons in the fields of coding, programming, UI/UX designs and all associated fields.
CODE PLATEAU
Code Plateau is an eight (8) months immersive bootcamp by the Plateau State Information and Communication Development Technological Agency (PICTDA) set to aid persons with the necessary skills in coding, programming, UI/UX designs, Information Technology (IT), software development and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
The 8 months bootcamp is open to persons within the city of Jos with a university degree and conclusion of the National Youth Service Corp program (NYSC). The bootcamp is to however train persons who wish to start their career in IT and kickstart their portfolio in real-life projects that utilises modern technology stacks.
