Egypt-based e-commerce and logistics startup, OneOrder has secured a $1 million funding ahead of launch. This funding is coming from A15 , a venture capital firm that seeks to back daring founders of early stage startups in the Middle East and North Africa region.
OneOrder is a supplier of foods, beverages, equipment and janitorials to restaurants. It partners with local farmers, ranchers, and producers to accumulate farm products and supply them to restaurants.
Speaking on the raise, Karim Beshara, General Partner at A15 said, “Looking forward to continuing to work with Tamer Amer and the OneOrder team to solve some of the main pain points that restaurants and the broader F&B industry in the region face today – fragmented supply chains with unreliable quality and pricing.”
Founded in 2021 by Tamer Amer and Karim Maurice, two successful restaurateurs, OneOrder wants to solve the problem of aggregating food products by placing into a single platform via its mobile web easy accessibility of products.
Tamer Amer, founder of OneOrder said, “Egypt’s restaurant industry and the challenges it faces caused by a fragmented supply chain made the restaurant owners need a timely supply of quality goods, at a consistent price without the stress of managing various suppliers on a daily basis.
“In Egypt, the restaurant business has to constantly navigate hundreds of suppliers on a monthly basis to source products, and the downside to this model is that you must create your own physical warehouses and stock up on many products to hedge the risk of sudden shortages and outages of much-needed supplies and this process burden restaurants with unnecessary overheads and costs.
“In addition to the cost, it is a tremendous burden that consumes significant time and resources that restaurant owners would otherwise be able to invest in other areas,” he said.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, Egypt’s Hotel-Restaurant-Institutional (HRI) sector in 2019 generated $13 billion in revenues, an 11.5 percent increase from 2018.
The number of restaurants in 2019 grew to 40,605, up by over a thousand units from 2018. These statistics reflect a geometric progression in demand without a corresponding supply.
With this problem in view, OneOrder creates solutions by taking up the logistics involved in connecting restaurants and producers once a company has ordered for products.
The one stop shop looks at reducing overhead and supply chain costs by becoming a single supplier of multiple products.
The company offers personalized, tailored SKUs, online ordering with a personalized dashboard, next-day delivery, increased cost savings all-in-one supply chain management via its mobile app.
With fresh food delivery at the heart of its workforce, OneOrder partners with ranchers, growers, and producers to supply farm produce across the distribution chain.
