Advances in medical technology have come a long way alongside huge business opportunities. While medical organizations can require huge investments up front for research and regulatory compliance, countless entrepreneurs are now making their fortunes by creating effective, convenient and scalable innovations for all kinds of health applications.
Nevertheless, these developments come with their own challenges, particularly in the areas of access, adoption, and application.
However, tech startup, eHealth Africa is creating a new narrative by revolutionizing public health challenges in Nigeria and many other countries across Africa.
eHealth Africa strives to develop and use tangible and efficient technology that meets the needs of the Nigerian terrain.
Founded in 2009, the company aims to build a more robust health system by designing and implementing data-driven solutions that respond to local needs and is providing underserved communities with the tools to lead healthier lives.
The company uses appropriate technology to effectively design, implement, manage and evaluate health projects.
eHealth Africa has projects in Nigeria with offices in Kano and Abuja as well as neighboring countries, Cameroon, Chad, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Niger. Also with expansion outside the continent, it has offices in the United States and Germany.
With tools developed to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies, including diseases such as Ebola and polio, among many others in rural areas, the company works with stakeholders to devise ways to respond to disease outbreaks to eliminate and reduce the impact on populations.
With its mobile and web-based pilot application, PlanFeld, eHealth Africa is helping other health organizations make better decisions and plan field logistics for public health interventions.
The app makes all aspects of field logistics easier for all types of field activities and exercises for better health service delivery.
Impressively,in 2019, the Healthtech company had set up a Kano State Emergency Call Center in the state and had supported its management to further increase its capacity to receive and report escalated COVID-19 cases to help curtail the spreading disease.

With so many projects carried out by the company, it has successfully enabled many health institutions and primary health care centers in regions like Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, Zamfara; by providing vaccines, antigens and dry goods to improve the health statutes of many individuals.
With future projects in place in different regions of the continent, eHealth Africa is currently collaborating with ministries in the country to conduct the National Food Consumption Micronutrient Survey (NFCMS) with objectives to assess the current micronutrient status and food consumption patterns of major population groups in Nigeria.
