Nigeria’s tech innovation and solution company, ICIDAT, reveals plans to launch its first innovative tech project in IDP Camps and orphanages on the Plateau in 2025. This initiative is part of ICIDAT’s mission and commitment to empower individuals—especially those in crisis communities—organizations and businesses to drive economic growth and social progress.
According to Gideon Yakubu, founder of ICIDAT, this innovative project aims to empower both children and adults who have been displaced by the crisis.
“We hope to set up training centers at IDP Camps and in orphanage homes, educating both children and adults with tech skills and harnessing young talents.
Even though the crisis has affected them, they can start from scratch. Tech is the fastest way to regain everything.” Yakubu noted.
He also added that contacts are being made with the Directors of some of the orphanage homes, and all hands are on deck to bring this initiative to fruition.
“This project will begin with the IDP camps and orphanages on the Plateau first, but we hope to extend our tentacles to other states up north,” Yakubu said.
ICIDAT is one of Nigeria’s leading tech innovation and solution companies, domiciled in Jos, at Murtala Mohammed Way, British America Junction. Its innovation hub, launched on May 6, 2024, has witnessed rapid growth and has helped to educate and develop young minds with top-notch tech skills through its ground-breaking projects such as SHE BUILD, STEAM BOOT CAMP, and KIDS CLUB.
Yakubu Gideon values this initiative and is preparing to deliver an excellent performance with the ICIDAT team.
ICIDAT is committed to developing creative tech solutions that make a positive impact on society. Its recent STEAM BOOT CAMP, held in August 2024, trained 70 students from ages 10-17 on different tech skills, such as robotics, games, coding, life skills, and computer appreciation.
From fund deficit to low-technology acceptance level, ICIDAT faces many challenges. “Accepting technology in this part of the world is still poor. However, the future of tech here on the Plateau, and even in Africa, is as bright as the sun.” Yakubu said.
ICIDAT is open to collaboration and partnership from tech-based industries to achieve this debut initiative, which is believed to foster development and innovation in the state and boost the tech ecosystem on the Plateau.
