The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with Domineum, a blockchain solutions provider to launch a Blockchain Scholarship, 2022 Scheme, for Nigerians.
Why it matters:
In 2020, NITDA stated that with National Blockchain Adoption, Nigeria plans to capture a market share of about $10 billion through blockchain technology by 2025.
This decision has resulted in the adoption strategies of the establishment of the Nigerian Blockchain Consortium, the strengthening of its regulatory and legal framework, the focused provision of national digital identity, the promotion of blockchain digital literacy and awareness, the creation of blockchain business incentive programs, and the establishment of a national sandbox for proof of concepts and pilot implementation.
In achieving the above, with the main focus on blockchain digital literacy, the Blockchain Scholarship will train 30,000 Nigerians in blockchain technology to develop the necessary career skills needed in emerging technologies.
This training will also explore the information technologies that Domineum makes available to all participants, and will be delivered through hybrid modules (with both virtual and physical meetings) in all states in Nigeria.
According to NITDA, “The scholarship is open to every Nigerian who is willing to put in at least 20 hours per week, has access to a laptop, and demonstrates commitment and determination. No prior programming experience is required.”
The teams with the most outstanding performance in the project phase have the opportunity to join the incubation program in London while others will be introduced to the Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) ecosystem; including them in various projects.
Registration starts on October 31 and ends on November 28, 2022.
