MTN Inc, the largest mobile network operator in the world, and the largest in Africa announced today that the malfunction noticed by users was caused by a glitch in the system.
“So MTN dey clear people debt, na only MTN Nigeria know what they are celebrating” Mayowa Olagunju posted on his X handle .
While there has been speculations by MTN subscribers about the reason as to why their debts were canceled, MTN Nigeria Support took to their X(formerly called Twitter) handle to clarify the issue and stated that this was a technical issue caused by a system glitch and that all balances would reflect accurately as soon as the problem is resolved.
It also emphasized that it’s technical engineers are all out to see to it that normalcy is restored and that the error caused is rectified.
Many subscribers took to their social media to celebrate their “canceled” debts by the network providers and even made memes about it. Some even advised other telecoms and fintech companies like Palmpay to learn from MTN.
Since this morning, MTN users have been overjoyed and thankful to the service provider for clearing their debts as it no longer reflects on their balance.
