Amazon Prime Video has partnered with Nigerian director, writer, producer, and show-runner, Jáde Osiberu alongside her production company, Greoh Studios in a three-year overall deal to create, develop and promote TV shows and movies exclusive to its streaming platform.
Why it matters:
The deal comes after Osiberu’s highly anticipated movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’ screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, ahead of its world premiere as the first Nigerian Original on Prime Video later this year.
Following the launch of Amazon Prime in Nigeria, the partnership between Osiberu and Amazon is in line with Amazon’s global push into more than 200 countries worldwide. The company is also vying for Africa’s 2026-projected 15 million video-on-demand subscribers.
It also recently announced its increased investment in Nigeria with its first two Nigerian Originals, Gangs of Lagos and LOL: Last One Laughing Naija, starring Basketmouth.
